Maurizio Cortese

CEO and General Manager

Based in Trieste, as CEO of AGORAI, Maurizio leads the strategic vision and the development of the ecosystem, with the aim of helping to “humanize the future” by promoting responsible AI and a public–private ecosystem capable of strengthening European digital sovereignty.

He has built solid international experience within the Ferrero Group, where he held leadership roles across Europe, Africa, and the Americas, and later within the Intesa Sanpaolo Group—first as CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo Smart Care, where he launched the Group’s first multichannel Digital Health platform, and then as Business Development Director at NEVA SGR, focusing on technology investments and the development of innovative start-ups.

He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Turin and completed an Executive Program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau. He further refined his strategic perspective through early professional experiences at Bain & Company, BCG, and Andersen Consulting.

A family man, novelist, and jazz enthusiast, he finds balance between the notes of a solo and the pages of a story.
